He’s not wrong. He basically just asked to kill they’re food source. And the numberless has to follow that order.

He’s only proving how bad it is they didn’t have the ability to think for themselves.

    • HKMaly

He’s soldier. Soldiers are not supposed to question orders. Sure, it would be stupid to kill her, but it’s not his decision to make.

      • MadMaxson

I’d argue that in a modern military soldiers are supposed to question orders. Several countries have added clauses to their laws that gives soldiers the right to refuse orders, if they believe that they violate the law of the nation or recognized international law. E.g. if a soldier is ordered to gun down prisoners or civilians, they can refuse that order.

The point is made, and really should stop it here otherwise if the Emperor really lets this goes on and lets 298 follow through on needlessly executing a willing and eager “food source” and one who is willing to protect said “food source” then he really is an idiot unworthy of his position.

    • HKMaly

Actually, I think it’s the Emperor who should stop it. 298 is making point, but it’s the Emperor who he tries to convince, and if the Emperor would consider one “food source” acceptable price for more demonstration, well, it might be stupid but it’s his decision.

Yeah, making the point that 220 is not defending Cleah because she is a food source, but because he has inefficient emotional affection for her that threatens the absolute power structure of the Nihallaks, is important for the Emperor at least. If he wants Nihallaks to remain loyal and obedient to him, he has to kill the emergent personalities they’ve developed. Otherwise it’s only a matter of time – given the relative immortality of Nihallaks – that his underlings will either abandon him or attempt to kill him and take over themselves. I mean, we’ve already seen that the Queen easily manipulates him.

    • HKMaly

You are right about the absolute power structure of the Nihallaks, however wrong about the Emperor being in danger of being killed. I mean, he would be only killed if there would be clash of opinions. He’s corrupted too. It’s entirely possible he will NOT be giving any orders other Nihallaks might consider so bad they will rather kill him.
