They come out of the egg fully formed, so no physical childhood, but everything will be new and they’ll spend years exploring the world and interacting with other fairies in wonder. Unless something bad happens, and then it will all suck.

It’s less “in this universe” and more “for fairies”. Because they come out of the egg in adult form and size, as Ophidiophile already mentioned.
