It wasn’t actually EXPLAINED anywhere I know about, but it was mentioned and hinted multiple times. If you look at https://eldrikdgt.com/fvt/characters/ominae/ … the “disaster of her own making” was Ominae trying to destroy dark forest. Lost fairy village was lost then. It was also used as the excuse for discrimination of dark fairies.
The most info about it IS in the bonus PDF with lore Q&A, if that’s what you call expanded lore.
Now, Ominae is technically half star fairy so I suppose it counts. Also, there are hints in other answers that other star fairies also tried to do something with dark forest and either had their own failures or were scared by Ominaes’.
NOTE: All this knowledge just makes me MORE interested in the answer provided in comix, because I suspect most of such details are not public info and the fairies here therefore don’t know about it.
Just a side note. My aim is always to have the comic be self contained, without any important plot point or info being locked down in wikis or qna or paywalled bonus content. That extra stuff is only for the people who really enjoy the comic and just want more. This mean that we will eventually learn everything important in-comic at a later date, but yes because of how things work bonus content might give away relevant info ahead of time.
That’s good idea/intent but I worry about implementation. Keeping privileged content like images is easy, seeing comix weeks in advance gives clear distinction, but keeping additional worldbuilding info privileged, even temporary, is hard.
For example I see I can’t be supporter – because I would find out some privileged information, forget it’s privileged and blab it out.
(Luckily, I have no idea how to pay over discord, so the temptation is quite low.)
Donating through the discord server gives you a special role and access to exclusive content and sketch pages weeks ahead of the public updates. You can donate once, or monthly, at your convenience!
That’s #297 up there, not #298.

My bad, it’s been fixed.
… because they tried to destroy it and it … didn’t … go … well …
Was that in the expanded lore, because I don’t remember that ever being mentioned.
Either way, something tells me it’s about to.

The lore Q&A file is made compiled discord discussions. So how much they are canon can still change
as for what happened with ominae and dark fores it has been recently explained in a character question, but sadly it is for supporters only
