Wouldn’t be surprising if it got its new abilities (and better speech seemingly) from getting another bite of Zak.

  That one bite probably contained all the blueprints it needed. The real question is whether it’s turning into a clone of Zak, or will the nihillium from Zak merge with the nihillium from the leech and produce a hybrid?
