Was there anything that said Monolith actually “killed” fairies. For all we know it could be a Borg or Flood type situation where they “live” inside Monolith.
There is QnA 198 with Monolith where she says she likes to consume fairies’ minds, so whether they die or not, it is implied that they lose their sentience, memories, and everything about their lives. It is like brain death. And also, any fairy who encounters her/her pets so deep in the dark forest is never seen again, so from a social perspective, too, they might as well be dead.
Two pages back, when Monolith swallows the fairy after Star tells her everything will be fine, Star gives a speech about how she intends to use time travel to save every fairy who has died. Certainly sounds like Star thinks the fairies die.
