Q&As with Lucky confirmed the world has been worse off when Lucky got rid of Monolith in other timelines, though obviously Monolith wouldn’t know that. How much of what she is saying is self serving for manipulative ends (yet correct) and how much she knows is true is up for debate. Though I assume at least some of it is on the manipulative side.
It depends on whether or not corrupted nihillium can be extracted from a fairy without killing her. It’s also possible that by the time fairies reach Monolith, they are too corrupted to be allowed to return to fairy society. There is the example of Viera (https://eldrikdgt.com/fvt/characters/viera/) who is both mentally and physically a monster in fairy eyes. It would be disastrous if the presence of corrupted fairies could speed up the corruption of other fairies. Monolith might be using the fairies as a power source while keeping them distracted so they don’t realize how far they’ve fallen. The alternatives would be to keep them free roaming around the Monolith, slowly going mad as their minds and bodies become more corrupt, or kill them as soon as they arrive, which would be wasting a power source Monolith needs for keeping the other monsters close and also for research. Sometimes, you have to go with the lesser of evils. Star magic is psionic in nature, and Monolith is probably using that to keep forest creatures in the forest, though I do wonder how Viera has managed to resist being drawn to Monolith.
You don’t need to extract corrupted nihillium. Fairies are build for cleaning nihillium, it’s their primary purpose. Viera is example of what happens when they abilities to fix nihillium is overloaded, but even she is mostly ok, compared to what nihillium does to most of ecosystem.
Note that Lucky was not speaking about Monolith specifically, or even if she did her experiments might be limited. I suspect that while the dark forest and it’s way to attract and contain corrupted nihillium is necessary, it COULD be governed in better way – it’s just that Lucky didn’t find way how to make that happen. Yet.
On the other hand, yes, it’s quite likely that those fairies who get to Monolith are already too corrupted to be returned to fairy society.
Where did you learn that fairies are built for cleaning nihillium?
“Fairies are biologically immortal due to the special fairy nihillium inside their bodies. It acts as nano-machines in their bloodstream, fixing their wounds and making them healthy. It also protects them from mutating from non-fairy nihilium unless sufficient quantities of foreign nihilinium are introduced to the fairy’s biology, at which point the fairy will become mutated to varying degrees based on level of ‘infection’.” https://eldrikdgt.com/fvt/fairies/
Actually, it’s written directly on the page you linked. What do YOU think “They were meant to succeed the draigjibies as their enhanced physiology and magic abilities would allow them to survive and even heal a devastated world.” means? The only kind of healing fairies world need is to clean corrupted nihillium.
Also, yes, I think it was written even more directly in some comments.

My god how much of that is Star gonna take… :0
It’s true that Lucky tried to get rid of the Monolith and it didn’t worked out. Still, I don’t believe the Monolith describes the situation fairly.
I think we need to Situation Fairy to describe the situation fairly.
Ahh, the self imposed “The world would worse off without me” argument.
How very elitist.

It not specified in comic – was mentioned off hand by the author. Guess details will be given in comic later
