I wonder if fairies have obscured ovulation (like humans), and if they get an urge to have sex when that happens. Also wonder how often do “accidents” happen?
The egg has to be laid in the Magic Cave or it won’t grow into a fairy. That may be considered a method of contraception, since they can just not go to the cave.
That actually makes me think of a question I hadn’t really thought of:
Why does Ominae exist?
Her existence is clearly taboo, but if they didn’t want her to be layed, they could have just done what you’re describing. So why didn’t they? I always just assumed Ominae was somehow born in secret and her Bearer was killed for breaking the taboo, but they have a family photo so that probably isn’t it.
I’m worried that there’s something about Star eggs that prevents that method from working. Nebula heavily implied in the past that Star Magic is highly corruptive. It could have something to do with that.
So as far as elements go, Star and Dark fairies are the ones least allowed to have children. Ominae is half-star half-dark, the father is also a Star fairy, and also her father, and not only the child, but the sex itself was unplanned. I don’t think things can get more illegitimate than this.

This is the second incestuous impregnation of the comic.
Third. The twins impregnated each other so that makes them the first and second one.
Uh-oh indeed. Yet another star fairy? Sounds like preparation for civil war.

…I retract my previous comment on safe sex in this universe.
Don’t suppose they have a morning after pull ready…

I though Ominae bearer was the dark fairy and they didn’t discovered her other parent until she was born.
I also think Nebula lied or meant it differently.

Of course it can. Two star fairies.
