The stars in the current timeline are downright paranoid about merging more than two elements. How did these come to the conclusion that merging more than two + star magic was a good idea?
I wonder if it would have worked out if they left it at one element + star magic.
The dud file explains that the caves “dud bug” is side effect of programing to prevent multi elementals. I as if not for such safeguards that could lead towards this scenario
That’s what I was referring to with “paranoid”. In the current timeline they accepted the “dud-bug” to prevent the creation of fairies with 3+ elements. In the other timeline they had no issue mixing more elements and even throwing star magic into the mix.
In politics, it’s more common for there to be a struggle over where the boundary should be. One side will argue for more limitation, the other side will argue for less. Unfortunately, the consequences of not applying enough caution often don’t inspire the amount of caution that would be wise. How much money should be spent on maintenance? One side will argue to spend more money to keep something as good as new, the other will argue that waiting to fix stuff will not limit function and will cost less. Which can result in disaster if we are talking about a dam or a bridge. There is also the question of limiting operating conditions. How cold can a space shuttle get and still be safe to launch? Every scrubbed launch costs money and sets the schedule back for future launches, so management decided to ignore those pesky engineers and their warnings. After all, the shuttle launched at a certain temperature without a problem, so launching at 1 degree colder should be fine, too. Until it wasn’t, and the shuttle goes boom. With dual element fairies, it is safe. But with three elements, there’s more combinations that could synthesize into more powerful magic. For instance, the Queen now has magic and electric elements, which makes her very powerful (you’d be surprised what a high enough voltage or current can do). Throw in a third element, and you could end up with an even stronger combination. Which would have made the Fairy War even more devastating. The Queen also has dark magic (https://eldrikdgt.com/fvt/qna/qna-262/), but we haven’t seen her use dark magic with her other elements, and I have to wonder what will happen when that happens. Dark plus magic element plus a triple high plane connection could result in a feedback loop that could have a destructive effect on nihillium that reaches for miles in radius, including on her. In my opinion, our inability to limit ourselves out of caution when there is profit to be made is our greatest weakness.

… sooooo, maybe limit number of generations to some other number than 1?
What (and I cannot stress this enough) the fuck?

That’s quite a big disparity.
In politics, it’s quite common that you move between extremes instead of looking for middle way. It’s stupid but happens all the time.
