Why do I get the feeling that not all the Draigjibies have died out, and one or more are living at the centre of the red zone? Possibly deranged after all these millenia, or capturing and experimenting on their “children”, maybe a little of both?
I think the Monolith is a broken Nihallak ship creating all the monsters off the Dark Forest.
Most monsters in Dark Forest don’t need to be specifically created, they are what normally happens when you combine some powered nihillium with original and/or corrupted programming and normal animals.
Now, some Red zone monsters – like shadowsprawler – may be created deliberately by Monolith.
