Hmm. According to Lucky, there is only one time-line with Nihallaks (and war-jibies, and fairies), so the file couldn’t have come from an alternate time-line. Instead, Lucky changed the time-line so that the Nihallaks survive. So #295 was bringing the unconscious war-jiby back to the ship when he and the war-jiby were killed. The Nihallaks were outside when the Era Ender hit, and they and the ship were wiped out. Lucky intervened before #295 was killed, explaining what was going to happened. #295 brought the war-jiby on board, then recorded the file #298 found, but his backup file wasn’t updated (or maybe Lucky tampered with it). #295 got the Nihallaks to retreat to the ship, but managed to get himself killed. #296 was brought online not knowing about Lucky or the war-jiby, who by this point had escaped and was hiding aboard the ship.
Probably not the way it went, but I can’t help speculating.
In original timeline, #295 was killed by artillery when trying to save unconscious war-jiby. Lucky changed by timeline by saving him and talking with him, then he recorded the talk. Then Lucky changed the timeline AGAIN, going further back and somehow made the Emperor call the Nihallaks back to ship BEFORE that “unconscious war-jiby” happened, and possibly also getting that war-jiby into the ship (unless it was different war-jiby).
In any case, it seems that Era Ender originally killed ALL Nihallaks, Fairies didn’t had any crisis around now and continued their current strategy until it ensured Fairies extinction or whatever is Lucky trying to prevent.
I am more inclined to agree with Ophidiophile’s order of events as it is more straight forward while filling all the holes that need filling. Lucky sees timeline where #295 tries to save Queen, but they die anyway resulting in all Nihallaks dying. ==> Lucky changes timeline, talking with #295 and leaving record after stowing wounded Queen aboard ship. #295 dies before updating backup. After revival #296 finds Queen loose, has no idea how she got there. ==> Nihallaks are able to survive and present events occur.
In Ophidiophile’s version Lucky only had to make one actual change to the timeline which seems inline with what she has said. In yours (HKMaly) Lucky must make two changes, the second one being before the first, which would wipe out the first change from everything but the Core log. In which case… why? Doing two changes seems like needless danger from her perspective.
I’m under the impression the total amount of changes she tried goes into thousands. Like, “already tried everything else” before trying Nihallaks.
And, specifically, “I didn’t almost died on battlefield” he said. Not “I don’t remember almost dying …” … if it would be possible for him to record the entry, then dying without backup, he would mention it. Not speaking about the fact that I suspect no other Nihallak survived in the timeline where Lucky saved 295.
Lucky has indeed been trying things for a long time, and playing with the nihallak is a recent development. This universe only has a unique, linear timeline because when the nihallaks entered the universe the very act changed the nature of the universe, causing a wavefunction collapse bubble expanding through the spacetime at c. Lucky cannot change this, as the nihallaks entered the universe a long time ago, and traveled very far before arriving to this planet, so it is simply outside of lucky’s reach.
The way time travel work is that a fairy need light magic + teleportation, so only a light/star mix can do it. Here’s the full explanation copy pasted from an older discord discussion, I hope it will be helpful rather than confusing.
You’re a fairy in Universe A1, you don’t like this timeline, you go back in time and change stuff. You cannot go back in time without teleporting. That plucks you, the fairy A1, into a new universe, let’s call it A2, because you cannot travel back in time without altering the time you’re traveling to.
So you are now fairy A1, in universe A2, you’re made of A1 stuff. your mind, your bones, your blood. It’s all A1 stuff. That stuff exist in the universe A2, but in a different configuration, maybe a younger you, or maybe just some rocks and plants. You created new matter and energy in this universe by traveling into it
Now, regarding fairy A1 in universe A2, over time, your A1 matter would slowly seep into the A2 universe as you exhale, excrete, lose hairs, etc. And your body would take in A1 matter, so yeah, if you change the timeline, and decide to just live in that new timeline, you will slowly reintegrate that universe. But you won’t lose your memory, or disappear if you killed your grandparents or some crap like that, because that universe has its own recording of your matter doing its own thing somewhere.
If you went back in time and murdered your parents before they made you, it doesn’t affect you, because they are the would-be parents of the A2 you, not the A1 you, and stopping your own creation simply mean that your A2 constituent will remain rocks and plant and random genetic material somewhere out there. You, A1, are fine, and will always be fine, until you integrate that universe fully. At that point, if another time traveler existing in A2 decide to change the universe into A3, you will be affected.
I want to stress out that in that explanation the universe A1 disappear, there are no parallels timelines, simply a timeline being overwritten again and again.
My theory Lucky saved the Nihallaks because they are essential to controlling the damaged Nihilim that creates monsters long term and I suspect they are going to be important in relation to the magic cave too.
While their knowledge and technology will be useful, my theory is that fairies could do that themselves if they do proper education. But the stars won’t do anything so revolutionary without major crisis.
Though they mostly want the core in the nihallak ship as it has so much info from their whole race it would skyricket fairy kind and solve their current problems. That is why they cant just nuke them out of existance

I have different speculation.

On lighter mood: Jade looks like she will want shower after this cleaning.
Nah she will br scrubbed so clean there wont be any need to shower
Not for PHYSICAL reasons but for psychological. Sure she would be totally clean but she wouldn’t FEEL that way.

Yeah stars are stuck in their ways
Though they mostly want the core in the nihallak ship as it has so much info from their whole race it would skyricket fairy kind and solve their current problems. That is why they cant just nuke them out of existance
Informed author to clarify some of the time stuff. I could do that but better they so I dont cause needless confusion
Will be adding a lore section about timeline and yime travel (maybe in the long distabt past section) but it wont be any time soon

29x really IS the main character, damn Zak really was always pro-fairy from the very start.
